Feeling and Letting Go of Worries

💚In honor of this May’s Mental Health Awareness Month, second graders spoke in class about what mental health is and how we can take care of our mental health. Feelings are a big part of our mental health, and second graders are working to recognize and label specific feelings. Naming a negative feeling like worry and bringing it out into the open can help a big feeling feel more manageable. Second graders identified some of their worries and found a way to write about them and let them go. Using leaves they found near the playground, students gave their worries to the leaves and buried them in the earth as a symbol of letting those worries go now that they’ve been felt and named.
