πŸ’« Every trimester, the Celebration of Learning reminds us what project-based learning is really all about — and this one was no exception. Many thanks to all of the families and friends who joined us! Your presence is its own message, that what these children are learning and making is seen, valued, and worth celebrating. The PCS community stepped into classrooms that had been completely transformed — stopping at exhibits, asking questions, listening as students explained months of work in their own words. At PCS, presentation isn’t a performance tacked onto the end of a unit — it’s an essential stage of the learning itself. When a student can stand in front of their community and share what they made and why, something important has happened. This morning, the celebration continued as students toured each other’s classrooms. Moving from room to room, they encountered the full breadth of what their school has been studying — the same topic, explored eight different ways, and with each classroom they were actively making connections across all of them. “The Music Lab: Sound, Story, and Connection” touched on everything from learning to play the ukulele and exploring how film scores express emotions, to studying the science of sound, making handmade instruments, discovering traditional nursery rhymes, and diving deep into the Harlem Renaissance. We are so proud of every student who stood behind their work during this Celebration of Learning and shared it with confidence, curiosity, and joy. These are our favorite days of the year! #celebrationoflearning #themusiclab #integratedstudiesunit #projectbasedlearning #peconiccommunityschool
πŸ’« The Celebration of Learning is just hours away, and here’s a quick peek at the hands-on learning that’s been happening in preparation. Project-based learning at PCS means a unit ends with something tangible — knowledge made visible in real work. Students are now putting the final touches on work they’ve built, written, researched, and produced, all of it rooted in this year’s integrated unit: “The Music Lab: Sound, Story, and Connection.” These are kids who are deeply invested in what they’re creating, because they’ve spent months deeply invested in what they’ve been learning — approaching Music as a shared lens through science, history, writing, performance, and hands-on making. These students are excited and proud, and tonight they get to do something that deepens learning in a way nothing else can — present their work to the people they love most. We can’t wait to welcome the PCS community to campus for a magical evening of learning and celebration. #celebrationoflearning #projectbasedlearning #integratedstudiesunit #themusiclab #peconiccommunityschool

🌞 This is what an unhurried North Fork summer looks like — eight weeks of outdoor play, hands-on making, and nature-centered discovery for children ages 3 through Grade 4. Peconic Community Summer is rooted in the progressive philosophy of Peconic Community School, one of the East End’s most respected independent schools. Days are spent largely outside on our 10-acre Cutchogue campus — exploring, building, creating, and playing freely. Older children choose daily from electives taught by real community experts — including drama, herbal studies, survival skills, music, and a weekly maker lab. Younger children follow a nature-centered daily rhythm of outdoor play, sensory exploration, and hands-on discovery. πŸ“ Cutchogue, NY | North Fork, Long Island πŸ“… June 29 – August 21 πŸ•˜ 9am – 3pm | Extended day until 5pm available πŸ‘§πŸ½ Ages 3 – Grade 4 Enroll by the week or all eight — spaces are limited. Our after school Drama Club just wrapped their production of Wonka’s Wonky Wonders, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. 🎭 Students in grades 3–8 took to the stage in this original adaptation written just for them by our incredible Miss Jenna. There is something truly special about watching a child inhabit a character in a story that was crafted with them in mind. Pure golden-ticket energy, start to finish. 🍫✨ #PCSdramaclub #willywonka #originaladaptation #goldenticketenergy #peconiccommunityschool
