🌊 From Montauk Point to New York Harbor, our students ventured into the waters and onto the shores during our maritime transportation unit to seek out shipwrecks, climb to lantern rooms, visit working harbors and steer ships. ⛴️ Our youngest students took a private turn at the wheel of a Shelter Island ferry to see how boats connect communities. 2nd graders set sail on a schooner in Peconic Bay to learn about the mechanics of sailing. And Middle Schoolers sampled water quality aboard a SUNY Maritime College research vessel. When we founded PCS 14 years ago, we saw that our children’s future was becoming harder to predict. What jobs they would hold, what technologies they would encounter, and what human interactions would look like was changing rapidly. Every weekday brings a different focus, led by a community expert in their field.
