Facilitator: Multiple Community Entrepreneurs and Makers

Fee: $400/student (includes $50 materials fee)

See if you have the stuff to be an entrepreneurial visionary! During this ten week Shark Tank workshop, students will work in three different units to design, develop, prototype and, finally, sell a product.

Beginning with the design and planning phase, students will meet with local entrepreneurs and business planners to identify and design a product that they feel has a needed market. In the next phase, they’ll work with a maker facilitator to create a prototype for their product. Finally, the last two sessions will be taken with the students pitching and “selling” their product to potential buyers.

Students will learn how to create and manage a business plan, how to design and create a prototype, and finally, how to market their product to potential customers. Utilizing all of PCS’s maker facilities and tapping into our local business community, students will have their own Shark Tank experience!

Welly Crochet: Intermediate Circle

10 sessions: Wednesdays, September 23rd - December 9th, 3:15 - 4:30pm

Grades 3 through 8

Facilitator: Noelle Grogan

Fee: $350/student

Maximum 10 students (minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

Noelle Grogan is a crochet teacher and small business owner who specializes in helping kids use crochet as a creative outlet and a means for calming meditation. Her teaching prioritizes learning by feel and observation rather than the rigid adherence to established pattern, encouraging progress over perfection.

For this series of workshops, students will begin learning basic stitches and proper hand posture. After building a solid foundation, students are free to work on preferred custom projects—like plush animals or wearable items—with Noelle’s expert guidance. Students will also learn how crochet pattern reading is an applicable skill outside of the world of crochet. By engaging the mind in repetitive and soothing tasks like crochet, children learn how hand crafts can be a healthy way to process emotions like agitation, frustration, or anxiety.

We're excited to have Noelle working with us here at PCS again, as her supportive, empowering approach to crochet lets kids' creativity flow while developing a practical and healing life skill.

Holistic Yoga Journeys

Age 4 through Grade 3

Facilitator: Melissa McHugh

Fee: $350/student

Maximum 10 students (minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

Yoga is more than poses—it’s a chance for kids to move, create, play and learn more about themselves along the way! With weekly themes, children will explore yoga poses, breathing techniques and mindfulness through movement while getting creative with games, play, activities and storytelling. Classes are designed to keep kids engaged, moving and using their imaginations while building confidence, making connections and learning coping tools to help them feel calm and connected both on and off the mat.

Melissa McHugh is a certified and insured 500-hour yoga instructor who hopes to create the kind of supportive space at PCS that she wishes she had growing up—one where kids feel comfortable being themselves, expressing who they are, and discovering what helps them feel their best.
