Middle School Designs Our PCS Gaga Ball Pit

📐🔢 Middle school mathematicians are demonstrating their understanding of geometry concepts as they design plans for our school’s new Gaga pit! Students needed to figure out the diameter and area of their pit, choose the number of sides it would have, find the inner angle of the perimeter corners and calculate total board footage for the project. Additionally, students sourced and priced  materials to create a budget to bring their design to life. When they presented their individual findings to the group they also documented the  relevant measurements and prices in an analog spreadsheet to use as they come up with one collaborative ideal Gaga pit. While each student wrestled individually with the challenges of this project, the final results – to be presented to Liz and Kathryn to inspire the construction of our real PCS Gaga pit – will be a collaboration of their ideas.
