You’re invited! We’re gearing up for our 2nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day March and Celebration on Monday, January 20th, and we would love for the community to join us. As always, PCS will observe a “day on” in service at school rather than a day off to celebrate MLK day. And, once again this year, the PCS Student Council has organized a march and celebration that is open to the community! We’ll kick things off at school with music, poetry, student and community speeches here at PCS campus in Cutchogue at 10am before we embark on a march to spread messages of peace, love, justice and hope through downtown Cutchogue. Once back at campus, we’ll gather for soup and hot chocolate, before students dedicate the afternoon to service and art projects including assembling care bags for neighbors experiencing need. We hope you’ll join us Monday, January 20th, and we invite you to help us collect hygiene items including: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, socks, gloves, and bottled water. ✍️Cursive is alive and well at PCS! Learning cursive is more than just creating elegant loops and swirls — it’s a gateway to fine motor skills and enhancing cognitive function. Studies have shown that writing in cursive engages different parts of the brain than printing or typing, leading to improved memory retention and faster note-taking abilities. The flowing motions required in cursive writing also help develop hand-eye coordination and can be especially beneficial for children with dyslexia or other learning differences.
