10 Week Check-In with 2nd Grade Writers

✍️📖Second graders have been hard at work these past 10 weeks in their writer’s workshops crafting imaginative illustrated storybooks that hook the reader with a problem and feature a resolution with a clear beginning, middle, and end. And, yes, that’s right — second graders have sustained a ten week writing project!

Through the writer’s workshop model, they’ve learned to:
+ brainstorm ideas,
+ structure a narrative with a problem and resolution,
+ use descriptive language,
+ offer and accept peer edits,
+ incorporate revisions into multiple drafts, and
+ bring their stories to life through vibrant illustrations.

They’re now eagerly closing in on their publication date and book launch party now that the finishing touches are nearly complete. The time, energy, spirit and skill they’ve dedicated to this process is so exciting!✨
